How to create better health on World Cancer Day? It’s a critical question we all need to be asking ourselves. World Cancer Day is an annual international event to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with cancer. This year, the theme is ‘I am and I will’ which aims to counter the negative attitude that nothing can be done about cancer.

We CAN do plenty! But WHAT can we do? And WILL we do it?

How to create better health on World Cancer Day

Making important lifestyle changes is powerful preventive and restorative medicine. At any age.

Committing to and sustaining important lifestyle changes to avoid, manage or heal from chronic and degenerative diseases is the ultimate action we can take to do something about reducing the risk, ameliorating the prospect or fighting the progression of cancer.

Our genes load the gun – our lifestyle pulls the trigger on cancer

For each of us, our DNA holds the potential to develop cancer – but the science shows that our genes only pre-dispose us … they don’t determine our outcome.

Our food and our lifestyle are the driving factors in all chronic and degenerative conditions – including cancer.

And this is very good news… it means we can do something about it. But, there is no ONE-FIX solution to avoid, prevent or heal from this largely lifestyle-driven disease. We are all unique, with a unique set of predisposing genes and a wide variety of lifestyles… unfortunately, most of them are completely out of kilter with our body’s ability to keep us healthy.

Keeping healthy is a multi-faceted journey of a lifetime… it’s not a destination. We need to start today, work at it 24/7 and follow a lifestyle road map to stay on course.

#1: FIND PURPOSE & MEANING

Key milestones: Find “WHY?” contemplation, meditation, visioning, listening, courage, action, consistency, in gratitude.

#2: EAT REAL FOOD

Key milestones: Organic, variety, 100% grass-fed, soil-grown, colourful, whole, unprocessed, cooked from scratch, start earlier in the day, finish early evening. Hydrate adequately and to thirst, in gratitude.

#3: MOVE YOUR BODY

Key milestones: Daily, in Nature, in sunshine, in rain, in all weathers, joyfully, in community, in gratitude.

#4: SLEEP!

Key milestones: Early to bed, early to rise, banish blue lights & screens, meditate, cool and dark environment, in gratitude.

#5: DE-STRESS

Key milestones: Detox: physical environment, emotional environment, food intolerances, personal and home care products, relationships, meditation, breathwork, in gratitude.

#6: RELAX & REST

Key milestones: Fun, play, enjoyment, creativity, mindfulness, down-time self-care, family, friends, in gratitude.

#7: CONNECT

Key milestones: Self, family, friends, community, contribution, compassion, love, kindness, in gratitude.
